![]() Laos, also known as the Land of a Million Elephants is Southeast Asia's most untamed natural beauty, from ancient temples, mighty rivers, remote forests and only a handful of tourists. Laos is the least developed and most enigmatic of the three former French Indo-Chinese states. A mountainous and landlocked country, Laos shares borders with Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the south, Thailand to the west, and Myanmar and China to the north. Laos is a country as yet untouched by the modern demands, stress and pace of life. Its beauty lies in the Lao people, traditions and heritage and its pristine landscape. The lack of foreign influence offers travelers an unparalleled glimpse of traditional South-East Asian life.
